My art career emerged in the early 1980s when I was awarded the Major award at the Raymond Terrace art show with my landscape 'Timber Mill Upper Thora'. I had been painting for only two years, exploring the teaching of Max Meldrum. At this time, I painted numerous still lifes to train my eye to 'see as an artist'. I worked en plein air in the Hunter Valley and further afield, to capture a 'moment in time'.
