After attending several of Patrick Carroll's workshops, a real delight in using texture emerged in my works. Throughout the 1990's I experimented with textured underpainting, dragging loaded brushes of paint over the roughened surface. I often used pallette knives to create texture. This technique engendered a natural progression into how I would interpret the French countryside after my visit in 2003.
