Selection of Works Influenced by France and the French Masters

Since 2003 I've travelled extensively throughout Europe, soaking up the atmosphere and studying art in galleries. In the surrounding countryside, I could see exactly what it was that the impressionists were painting. I was as intrigued, as they were, by the texture I saw in crumbling old walls, the way fields of sunflowers turned their flower heads into the light and the way poplar leaves shimmered in the sunlight. I now reflect that the way that I had been painting Australian landscapes in the 1990's had readied me for intrepreting the textures of France.
